Review of 2015
For the first three months of the year we are busy with Valentine's Day, Mothering Sunday and Easter which are peak trading days for us that require a lot of planning and preparation to ensure we can offer the best service on the day. In April we held our first workshop of the year. There were two evenings to chose from, the ladies who came made a beautiful arrangement in a bird cage style basket in pastel shades, we supplied all the flowers and materials and gave a demonstration on the evening.
May was a busy month for weddings this year, although we had many through the summer May was the most popular month. This year we celebrated our 40 birthday so we had to have some celebrations, in June we had a special coffee morning and had a party in our local community hall. At these events we raised over £1400 which we split between Cancer Research UK and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Portsmouth.
In August we held a taster workshop as part of a community event showcasing activities available in Wick. We then started to plan our Autumn workshop that we held in late September this time we made an autumnal themed arrangement in a tower of teracotta flower pots. In November we used this idea to make a Christmas themed arrangement for The Moorings Tea Rooms who held a workshop for their customers. In mid November we filled a hall with 50 ladies for our Christmas Workshop, they made a pretty candle arrangement on a glass cake stand and a novelty arrangement in a Christmas cracker. We had a really enjoyable evening watching them make some beautiful arrangements.
At the end of November we held our Annual Christmas Event which showcases our Christmas gift ideas and raises funds for St Barnabas House Hospice. This year the Edwin James Festival Choir came and sang for us and we raised an amazing total of £645.
